1. Linen is antimicrobial and healing

In the past, the restorative properties of linen were acknowledged by its preferred use as the material that bandages were made from. Linen naturally flights against different types of bacteria and fungi, and Flax is found to be a very effective barrier to some diseases. Hospital sheets used to use linen fabric because it was widely known to be the best for healing and protection against infections. Unlike most fabrics, linen is breathable, and has high air permeability. The heat conductivity of linen is 5 times higher than wool and 19 times than silk. This means in hot weather, people dressed in linen clothing are found to have a lower skin temperature than others wearing silk or cotton garments. Interestingly enough, in cold weather, linen works in reverse, proving ideal for retaining warmth.

Some news from Japanese researchers, studies have shown that bed- ridden patients do not develop bedsores where linen bed sheets are used. Linen naturally suppresses live pathogenic micro flora, bacteria and fungi.

2. Linen is durable and eco-friendly

Did you know that linen is stronger than cotton? It's actually one of the few fabrics that is stronger when it's wet, rather than when it's dry. Since the fibers in the material don't stretch, it is far more resistant to any sort of damage or breakdown in the wear. therefore linen clothing lasts longer and can be past down from generation to generation. It's a durable plant to grow for it's eco friendly properties : one hectare of flax can take 3.7 tonnes of CO2 out of the atmosphere. That means from all the linen grown in Europe, around 250,000 tonnes of CO2 is removed each year! This is the same as driving the average car over 560,000,000 miles! Or put another way, it saves enough CO2 to drive around the planet nearly 22,600 times. Flax thrives in the temperate climates of Western Europe, and requires few fertilisers or pesticides to produce

3. Linen's healing history and vibrations

We are given many examples in the bible of people being dressed in linen. (Genesis 41:42, Exodus 39, Leviticus 6, Leviticus 16, II Chronicles 5:12, Esther 8:15, Revelation 19 and more) We are told that Messiah’s clothing while on earth was made of fine linen.

Nobel Prize winner, Dr. Otto Heinrich Warburg was one of the first scientists to discover that cancer cells grow in an acidic environment. He became committed to the process of keeping one’s body in an oxygenated, alkaline state. He performed tests on the frequencies of various fabrics and their ability to reflect life and increase the vibrations, the life force of the human body. Pure linen and pure wool were found to have high frequencies that were healing, oxygenating, to the human body at 5,000 signature frequency measured in angstroms. Standard bleached and colored cotton was found to be almost neutral measuring 40 angstroms of energy, while man made or synthesized fabrics had a negative vibration. Every black fabric, including linen and wool, has a negative vibration energy. The conclusion is that wearing pure linen or wool raises the vitality of your body, while wearing other fabrics will lower its vitality.

4. Linen looks better when worn a lot

Unlike cotton, linen gets softer and softer with every wash, as the pectin that binds the fibers gently breaks down. With proper care, your linen clothing and bedding will last for decades. So, take good care of your linens—and they’ll take care of you. I often get asked how my designs should be washed and I always tell them to not be afraid of throwing them in the washing machine and sometimes the dryer if they want to hurry the softening of the fabric.

5. Linen is better than sunscreen ?

Flax fabric is an excellent filter protecting against chemical exposure, noise and dust. – Linen clothing reduces solar gamma radiation by almost half thereby protecting humans wearing linen. Flax fibers retrieved from contaminated soil appears to be totally resistant to harmful radiation. Anyways you shoudl always apply sunscreen !

Linen underwear heightens positive emotions as well as possessing rare bacteriological properties. It's important to stay away from polyester or elasthane underwear as they are a nest waiting to reproduce bacteria and fungus. Opt for organic cotton or linen underwear if you can. You'll feel and smell so much better :)
